So what about the lifting of the Trilithon stones at Baalbek? Some make the point that the Trilithon stones do not have " Holes" in them like many of the other Roman stones at Baalbek. Holes is the name for the holes the Romans would drill in stones for lifting with their cranes…yes, the Romans had cranes.

This quarry is now a touristic location and the guides tell that women get pregnant when touching the stone. Local guides in Baalbek are always very entertaining. If it is really the biggest stone can be doubted – there is a stele in China and an obelisk in Egypt that are larger in size.

It may never be known how the Baalbek foundation stones were cut, moved from the quarry uphill, then arranged precisely, but it is fun to think about. Like the pyramids of Egypt, the ruins at Macchu Picchu, or the temple of Angkor Wat, we may never know exactly what occurred in the past.

In other words, a stone of a bit smaller mass than the trilithon stones was placed during about the same time as the great Baalbek stones were. Another feature is that the base stones that were mentioned earlier will be in place and have reached the level of the ground, which is also about the level of the of the quarry.

Not only did the planners plan successfully to move the stones intact from the quarry but to lift the stones onto smaller stones that were laid to create the foundation. The largest stone at Baalbek is called the stone of the Pregnant Woman and weighs around 1,200 tons (1,088 tonnes), more than three Boeing 747s together.
