Ceramic filter media used in the dewatering of iron ore over operating periods of 3–5 years were characterised using XRD and SEM. X-ray analysis revealed the main chemical components in the samples to be aluminium oxide, i.e. the filter material, magnetite originating from the filtered slurry, and a calcium oxalate scale.

The present study presents the eect of pH reduction in iron ore slurry for an iron ore ltration process. A reduction on moisture content and increase on lters throughput was proposed by the pH modication.
