Luanshya Copper Mines (LCM) is planning to begin soon a USD 50 million investment programme to modernise the old Baluba copper mine. The programme aims to increase production to 60,000 tonnes of copper a year compared with 21,000 t. currently. Cobalt production, currently at 11, 000 t, will increase to 12,000 t or even 13 000 t.
